January 1879: Search for the Marlowe Expedition, Nepenthes-thoth Steppe, Mars.

January 1879: HMLS Hornet searches for the Marlowe Expedition on the fringes of the great Nepenthes-Thoth Steppe. Led by Professor Theodore Marlowe (Robartes Professor of Martian Studies, Cantab), the expedition comprised a small group of Human guides and guards, a section of Martian askaris, Martian labourers, plus most notably the Professor's daughter Lucy. The aim was to explore some of the ancient ruins in the area, and initial reports spoke of amazing discoveries. However, contact was lost during December 1878 and HMLS Hornet under the command of Lt. E. Carstairs was despatched to search for them...
